Weeknotes, Friday 21 February
This week has flown by. It’s been all about preparing for upcoming sprints. Feeling excited about what’s to come. Going to see Green Lung with my brother at the weekend. The sun has come out a bit. Feeling positive.
Children and families Discovery
Attended some great workshops for a discovery that’s looking at referrals into children’s social care. Currently 49% of referrals result in ‘no further action’.
Service designer Dani got us to agree on a problem statement, work out the unknowns we needed to know, and what we need to get that knowledge. We then mapped these tasks out over the next 4 weeks.
We also had a user researcher, and crucially some developers in the room who have worked on the referral form. It was brilliant to get a range of perspectives on what we think the issues might be.
For me it’s looking like there will be a lot of auditing of relevant content and the form initially. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of user research in terms of the wider problem.
Comparing form products
Had a meeting to look at whether an existing forms solution could provide what we need for our fostering website, instead of our proposition which was to use a LocalGov Drupal form embedded in the site.
We came to the conclusion that although the existing form could easily replicate the questions we’d designed, being able to embed the form was essential in this case, as the main driver for this work is to increase the amount of potential foster carers getting in contact, and we want to remove any barriers or extra steps where we can.
Prep for next week’s consent form sprint
My colleague Claire (user researcher) did most of this work, but along with fellow content designer Hannah we got together to look at the plans for next week’s sprint about consent forms and make sure we felt ready. Really looking forward to it!
