Weeknotes, Friday 15 November
This week has felt positive. Projects that felt like they were in limbo are progressing.
Foster carer pay
Met with the fostering service to understand the exact numbers we can use for a financial calculator prototype. There was discussion of a separate calculator for fostering disabled children. We’ve worked out some numbers for this, but functionally it would work in a similar way to the main calculator, so we have enough to test with.
The service let us know pay is the main area of confusion for potential foster carers, with less need around understanding types of fostering, or eligibility. So, we’re deprioritising Smart Answers that address those areas for now, with no obvious user need.
LocalGov Drupal week sessions
Attended some interesting sessions from LocalGov Drupal week. Personal favourite was from Bracknell Forest, looking at getting rid of PDFs by using HTML publications instead.
Less enthused by some of the AI integration proposed. But understand this is probably something a lot of councils are asking about.
