Weeknotes: August 16th — 20th
Plenty going on this week, mainly lots of smaller bits and interesting meetings than being focussed on one thing in particular.
DDaT for testing
We put the final polish on a word doc version of some learning materials for ECC staff. They’ll be shared with the wider team for testing. Looking forward to finding loads of problems that we can iterate on!
Accessibility fixes
Made a few minor accessibility fixes that our accessibility team flagged from the latest audit. A bit of unwanted CSS on a video, but also a larger potential problem has been flagged with the coronavirus ‘alerts’ we’re using. Their title does not get picked up as a H3 by screen readers at present. Our interaction designer Jack Ryan and developer Thomas Moore are working on a fix.
School Transport
Got sign-off on changes to the school transport page. There a was an issue with parents being unsure of how often they needed to renew this, so added some information. It’s a little complex as some people need to renew every year, and some renew automatically. Will need to monitor this page and ensure it’s performing well.
Feedback
The highlight of the week for me was running a feedback session. I’ve put these in the calendar for every two weeks, as a drop in session. I do not want it to feel like another meeting people ‘have to go to’. Jo brought some chunky content to look at, and we had a great turnout. For the next one, I need to find a way to make it easier for people to see the list of user needs the person receiving feedback has providing. Will need to iterate on this and try things out in the next session.
That’s all folks! Currently writing from Italy where I’m quarantining in my wife’s parents for 5 days before setting off on our honeymoon.
